Why do some of the menu links not work?
Some aspects of the site are still being developed. The site will also be undergoing constant tweaking in the background as we strive for optimum performance
Why do you require my birthdate?
Your birthdate is absolutely confidential to us and will be used for security purposes only. For example, if you wanted your available credit to be transferred to your real bank account, we may ask the question "what is the 3rd letter of the month you were born?"

Do I need broadband to enter the mall and city?
Whilst the mall and city will load on a dial-up connection, users can expect lag time therefore to make the experience a pleasurable one, we do recommend a broadband connection

Is it really free to sell? Some other sites say that they are free but once you sign up there are always other charges?
YES it is absolutely free to advertise in the classifieds section. We have a lifetime membership fee which is a one-time payment of $10NZD and there are no other charges for advertising.
Is it possible to display more than one picture for each classified ad?
YES through the use of PDF files. In addition to pictures, the PDF file can also contain other information such as descriptions to go with each picture, LIM and valuation reports if you are selling your house etc.
I have a small home-based business. Can I also sign up for $20 for the year?
Yes, of course and we welcome small home-based businesses. In fact, any person/club/business can become a member for just $20. It is a very cost-effective way of advertising
Why don't you charge success fees or commission?
We don't see the need to. By allowing direct contact between buyers and sellers, it significantly reduces administration costs. We have also taken a gamble based on volume in that the more people who support this site by becoming life members, the more cost-effective it becomes for everyone

What is upload funds for?
Popweb City has developed a payment system whereby members can upload funds, via their credit card. Immediately the transaction is confirmed, the amount uploaded is credited to an AvailableCredit. We also have a common currency, based on the USD so you will see two balances in your My Account screen. Available balance is shown in your native currency and the converted balance is the available balance converted to common dollars. Available credit can then be used to pay for purchases from other members and vendors which have an online store with us
I don't have a credit card so how do I upload funds?
You can deposit money directly into our bank account via Internet Banking or good old fashioned deposit or send us a cheque. Please email lesley@popwebcity.com to obtain details.
Why are there transaction charges when I upload funds?
Sadly transasction fees are a part of life and we have done our best to make it fair for both vendors and customers and at the end of the day, transaction fees would be included in the final sell price. In order to keep the sell price as low as possible. We figured that it was better for members to pay the transaction fee of 3.5% + .45c fixed fee (as charged to Popweb City) as this then shares the load and helps to keep things fair. Otherwise the alternative is that the seller is charged these transaction fees and this would mean that members could not pay for multiple purchases with a single transaction.

What is an escrow account?
An escrow account is like a holding account. Whilst the payment to the seller is guaranteed, the delivery of the goods to the buyer is not so the escrow is like a "safety net" in case the transaction is cancelled for whatever valid reason.
What is the payment system?
A buyer needs to available credit in order to use this facility. When a buyer clicks on "buy using available credit, the purchase amount is deducted from the buyer's available credit and held in an escrow account.
How does the payment system work then?
Buyers will see the record of purchase in Pending Purchases (My Account page) and Sellers see the same record as Pending Sales. The seller and buyer agree on freight method and costs. The seller enters delivery details into the record and the freight rate is deducted from buyer's available credit and added to escrow amount. When the goods have been received, the buyer completes the transaction by entering receipt date, rating from 1-10 and general comments The transaction is then closed and amount in escrow transferred to the seller's available credit
What happens if the buyer does not acknowledge receipt of goods?
The delivery details have provision to enter courier company, tracking number and estimated delivery date. Because we do not charge success fees, we recommend that sellers use couriers, where applicable, to deliver goods. This way we can also track the package should the buyer dispute receiving it. Where it is proven the goods have been signed for then the amount is escrow is transferred immediately. If a courier was not used and no proof of receipt and the buyer still fails to complete transaction, then 7 days after estimated delivery date has passed, the amount in escrow will be transferred immediately
What happens if the transaction is cancelled?
If the transaction is cancelled by mutual agreement of both parties, then the amount held in escrow will be transferred back to the buyer
